Binx has discovered lightning bugs!
Hello again!
We are now in Morton, Mississippi at Roosevelt State Park. I am sitting at a picnic table overlooking a very peaceful and beautiful lake listening to the sounds of nature.
We made our first destination - Three Rivers State Park in Sneads, Florida about 7 pm Saturday night after driving 325 miles. The roads to the campground were a bit rough, but the extra banging was worth it. The campgrounds were beautiful - nice and wooded right next to Lake Seminole (a very large body of water that borders both Florida and Georgia). As we pulled up to our campsite (which I reserved online not knowing what it looked like) we had to laugh because it was surrounded by many large trees that Dirk would have to squeeze Harvi through and back into the spot. Amazingly, he did it with no problem as I directed him in. First test passed!!
Lexi and I took some beautiful pictures of the sunset.
Dirk took a ride around the park and saw many large white tailed deer. The next morning when I was walking Binx, he got to see the same deer and thought it would be really fun to try and chase them!! Good thing I was holding on the leash tight
We left about 11 to head to Mississippi.
The drive yesterday was long - 393 miles.
The last 40 were on a state road that seemed to get more narrow every mile we drove. It was quite a relief to get to our destination finally at about 7 pm again. This park is very beautiful as well. The lake we are next to here is called Shadow Lake. There are many hills (we got to see how big they were on our bike ride yesterday!). We have decided to stay here tonight as well so we can enjoy a few of the amenities the have here - big water slide and pool - and let our animals and driver have a rest. It was really cute last nigh when the fireflies started coming out to see Binx follow them and smell them as they hovered near his face. A new experience for him!
Zoomer, our cat, has been a trooper. She seems to be quite comfortable and only yells at us when we hit a bump.
Binx on the other hand has not quite got the hang of being on the road. He is on a fast from eating - except of course for human food and treats! He seems to think he needs to be the co-pilot or driver as we are driving because he will either sit on my lap in the passenger seat or boot me out of the seat and climb in.
If I don’t let him do that, he tries to get on Dirk’s lap!! So he still has some getting used to this life on the road. Hopefully by the end of this week he will find a place to call his own as we are driving.
That’s it for now. We are thankful and feel blessed to have this opportunity as a family to take this trip. I was reminded how our Amazing Creator has had this trip planned for us all along when I read Ephesians 2:10 which says, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” I am grateful for these reminders that He has it all figured out - the beginning to the end. All we have to do is listen for His leading and find the good every day!
Much love to all,
Sherry
